According to research by the Petroleum Commission, which was made public after receiving approval from the federal cabinet, smuggling of petroleum products costs Pakistan Rs240 billion per year in lost revenue.

This year's fiscal year, the Commission identified 486 filling stations around the nation and collected 27,911,746 liters of unlawful gasoline and 997,037,434 liters of smuggled diesel, a total of little over a twentieth of all smuggled goods confiscated.

Because of tax evasion, four times as much illegal petroleum has found its way into the country than was previously thought. As a consequence of all of this, the national exchequer has suffered a loss of almost 240 billion rupees.
