Officials projected on Tuesday that almost 5 million Chinese nationals would be working in Pakistan by 2025, indicating China's growing influence in the country.
A top Pakistani public health specialist told The News International that the only way to address the health requirements of these employees is to increase cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese medical institutions, research institutes, and biotechnology companies via the China Pakistan Health Corridor (CPHC).
Observers think Beijing is attempting to expand its presence in Pakistan. During the interview, Prof Dr Shahzad Ali Khan, Vice-Chancellor of Health Services Academy (HSA), said:
We intend to teach Pakistani professionals in modern medical technology as well as traditional Chinese medicines, which is a therapy of choice for millions of people in China.
These professionals will not only meet the medical demands of visiting Chinese nationals, but also of Pakistanis who believe in complementary and alternative medicine.
