Pakistan's Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications plans to implement 5G by 2023. The ministry's 5G strategy is based on the fact that the telecom sector has expanded to $16.9 billion after gaining $1.2 billion in foreign investments over the past three years.
This proposal was presented with Prime Minister Imran Khan during a detailed discussion of the telecom sector's performance. According to the report, the Universal Service Fund has already begun initiatives for "deep fiberisation" throughout the nation (USF).
This will be an aid in the expansion of telecom services and internet access in rural and underserved regions of the country.
Finally, this will help Pakistan fulfill the criteria for implementing next-generation technology and communication technologies such as 5G.
The minister also said that over 10,000 kilometers of fiber optic cables would be installed throughout the nation between 2018 and 2022 to offer high-speed internet to more than 1,175 municipalities and union councils.
Furthermore, USF projects in Balochistan have covered approximately 1,800 kilometers of unserved road networks, including roads and motorways.
In response to these developments, Syed Amin ul Haq, Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunications said that the government is working hard to boost IT service exports by up to $5 billion by the end of 2022-23.
We will provide cheap and high-speed internet to people in small communities, and I am sure that females from the KP and GB regions would succeed as freelancers while working from home.
