In a recent official notice, Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SEWL) stated that Haval had been awarded Category-A greenfield investment status for building and selling its cars in Pakistan.

The carmaker debuted in Pakistan a few weeks ago by introducing two crossover SUVs, the Haval Jolion and Haval H6. Both vehicles sold out within days of their release, and the firm had to stop taking reservations.

When reservations were reopened, the firm raised the cost of the SUVs, claiming “logistical problems and semiconductor chips shortage” as the reason for the price increase. Despite the price increases, the whole fresh batch of automobiles was sold out, causing them to halt bookings once more.

However, with the start of local car assembly, Haval appears to be ready to go head-to-head with its competitors in the market. SEWL also collaborates with another Chinese automaker, BAIC.

Even though the latter partner had greenfield status in the county long before Haval, its automobiles are yet to be released in Pakistan. BAIC has previously stated that it will offer affordable automobiles in Pakistan in February 2020. People are still waiting for BAIC to release low-cost vehicles after more than a year.
