Over the last decade, the best Tetris game of all time is on its way to the Switch. Tetris Effect: will be released on the Nintendo Switch on October 8th, according to the company's announcement during today's Indie World Showcase event.

Tetris Effect is the multiplayer addition to 2018's Tetris Effect, coming after its temporary exclusive period on Xbox and Xbox Game Pass.

Tetsuya Mizuguchi, the game inventor who created the frenetic music shooter Rez, developed Tetris Effect, which had quick block-stacking and beautifully designed and dreamily-sounding images and noises.

The classic Tetris gameplay was carried over into Tetris Effect without modification.

As the stack of blocks progressively grew, rows were cleared as groups of blocks of various shapes dropped into beautiful arrangements.

However, Tetris Effect has all of the elements of an audiovisual sensory experience, including colours, images, and sound that enriched the iconic 1984 game with another layer of depth.

Tetris Effect was released for the Xbox, PC, PlayStation, and virtual reality platforms in 2020. To improve multiplayer functionality, it received an update called Tetris Effect: Connected in 2020.

Cross-platform online or local multiplayer and co-op options have been added, allowing players to compete or cooperate to see who can get the high score on the search for the elusive row-obliterating Tetris.

While initially Xbox One and Game Pass-exclusive, Tetris Effect: Connected will be available on all platforms by the end of the year.
