Peter Oborne, a well-known English cricket journalist, slammed the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for cancelling their trip to Pakistan. According to Oborne, the move was designed to soothe India and had nothing to do with Pakistan's security position.

Oborne chastised the ECB's chairman, Ian Watmore, and demanded that he explain the true rationale for the decision.

He referred to the ECB as a cowardly cricket body that has harmed England's image and brought tremendous harm to Pakistani cricket.

The respected cricket writer said that the ECB had no reason to postpone the trip since the security measures in the nation had been approved by British officials and the British High Commission.

The 64-year-old said that the ECB had to decide because of player power since they would rather play in the Indian Premier League than for their national side.

He said that this is not the first time players have chosen to play in the IPL, recalling how the skipper, Eoin Morgan, skipped their tour of Bangladesh a few years ago to participate in the IPL.

Oborne said that England owes Pakistan cricket a huge debt of gratitude for touring the nation despite COVID-19 last year.

He said that the ECB had kicked one of its closest cricketing friends in the teeth.
