Philips, a Dutch electronics company, has unveiled next-generation LED lights that may last up to 25 years. These LED bulbs are 60 percent more energy-efficient than previous models and have a total lifespan of 50,000 hours. Based on an average daily usage of 5-6 hours in a home setting, these bulbs may last 20 to 25 years.
Signify's (Philips' spin-off lighting division) business unit head of LED lights and luminaires, Michael Rombouts, stated:
With this technological
eakthrough, we created our most energy-efficient lamp in this shape yet, while maintaining the same high quality of LED lighting that our customers are used to.
These LED bulbs will be available in 40W and 60W sizes and comply with new EU labeling requirements. There are additional white (3000k) and cool white (4000k) variants available and various color temperatures. The new EU labeling rules go into force today. Therefore, the new Philips bulbs are already available in that area. This implies that we may anticipate these LEDs to be available in additional markets shortly.
Philips has a significant presence in Pakistan, so these new lights should be accessible soon. However, it will most likely be delayed in comparison to the rest of the globe.
