The clamour for the historic T20 World Cup match between Pakistan and India to be cancelled gathers traction as India's Minister for Rural Development joins the saffron fans in their demand. Minister Giriraj Singh, speaking to the media on Sunday, asked his administration to reconsider the match since relations between the two nations are 'not good.'
"I think if relations (between India and Pakistan) are not good then this should be reconsidered," Singh said in answer to a query on whether India should play Pakistan in light of alleged "targeted murders" in Jammu and Kashmir.
The high-octane battle between Pakistan and India is set on October 24 in Dubai, but the call for a boycott is getting stronger by the day. Two additional Indian ministers had earlier requested a cabinet discussion on cancelling the Pakistan-India match.
Giriraj believes that the match between Pakistan and India on Sunday should be approached differently. He believed that by boycotting the match, the Indian government would convey a message that such things are not taken lightly.
