On Sunday, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi combined for a 10-wicket hammering of India, giving Pakistan their first-ever T20 World Cup victory against India. The victory not only gave Pakistan a successful start to their World Cup campaign, but it also ended a 29-year curse in which Pakistan had lost 12 World Cup matches versus India in the 50- and 20-over forms.
As Pakistan celebrated its historic victory, Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK) erupted with fireworks and shouts of 'Pakistan Zindabad' to commemorate the Green Shirts' crushing victory against India.
Despite curfew-like conditions, army patrols, and bone-chilling cold, residents in the occupied valley flocked to the streets with Pakistani flags in their hands to celebrate the overwhelming triumph over the archrivals with equal zeal.
On the streets of IOJK, chants such as 'long live Pakistan,' 'we are Pakistan, Pakistan is ours,' and 'Jeevay Jevay Pakistan' rang out.
