The OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro from earlier this year catapulted the business to new heights in the smartphone industry. Still, it appears that a OnePlus 9T will not be released in 2021.

OnePlus often launches two flagship phones every year, with a T series smartphone gently repeating mainly on the main flagship handset. According to a recent leak, that will not be the case in 2021, as the OnePlus 10 will be the company's next flagship phone.

Max Jambor, a tipster who has frequently provided fascinating information about forthcoming OnePlus products, posted to Twitter to say "no 9T," implying that a OnePlus 9T smartphone will not be released this year.

In his tweet, he stated why he made this decision. He argues that there isn't much left to improve on the current OnePlus 9 series because the displays, charging technology, performance, and cameras are all acceptable.

A new smartphone with minimal enhancements would be unfeasible, especially for the Pro model.

His argument is sound, as the only noticeable difference would be to offer the Snapdragon 888 Plus, which is only a minor upgrade. On the other hand, optimizing a device for a new chipset may be a complex job that might not even result in feasible performance increases.

The current semiconductor scarcity is also likely to affect it. We'd expect Jambor to have heard something more specific from sources about whether or not the OnePlus 9T will be released.

OnePlus has declined to make any formal comments. If this leak is accurate, it will be the first time since 2015 that OnePlus will follow a refresh cycle that lasts more than six months. Aside from the present lineup being "good enough," there are likely significant reasons for the strategy adjustment.
