Huawei's HarmonyOS 2.0 hit 90 million users ten days ago, and today the company has accomplished yet another milestone: 100 million smartphones have been upgraded to the in-house operating system. Android initially powered these devices, but their users have chosen to abandon that operating system.
Huawei is in the process of finding participants for the sixth round of Android-to-Harmony upgrades. These upgrades are what have caused the rapid increase in Harmon users. Over the next two years, the firm is planning to move 100 devices.
There are currently 106 in total, with 75 being phones from the P40, Mate 40, and Mate 30 series. The P20 and Mate 10 series and the Nova 5i and 4e are older flagships that have lately joined the party. Huawei is conducting an inside test while also introducing more devices to its public beta test program.
Remember that the 100 million figure only includes items that have received an upgrade to Huawei OS; newer smartphones and tablets, and wearables come pre-loaded with the operating system. In addition, HarmonyOS also supports various innovative products (such as TVs) and IoT devices, with a laser printer being the latest change.
The Harmony platform is not so much an operating system as it is a set of technologies that help make different devices communicate with each other. Developers working on a HarmonyOS Connect brand of devices will be able to secure a partnership with a third-party manufacturer.
