For quite some time, we are hearing about MediaTek is working on a 4nm processor, and some sources say that it will be the first smartphone SoC to use the 4nm node.
According to a recent leak from renowned tipster Digital Chat Station, this chip will be named the Dimensity 2000 and released soon.
He claims that the forthcoming Dimensity 2000 device would be built on TSMC's 4nm node and that the chipmaker has already sent samples to hardware partners for internal testing.
If all goes according to plan, we may see the technology in future smartphones as early as 2022.
This period may make it challenging for the Dimensity 2000 to become the world's first 4nm chip. This is because Qualcomm, one of its main competitors, is also working on a 4nm processor.
It is anticipated to be unveiled in December of this year and reach the market as early as January 2022.
The Dimensity 2000 will be built on the new ARM V9 architecture and the new Cortex-X2 CPU cores for substantial performance improvements. As a result, it is reasonable to anticipate that its performance will eventually equal Qualcomm's top-tier chipsets.
