TCL is extending its 20 series in many areas across the globe. We saw the entry-level TCL 20Y yesterday, and today we have the somewhat higher-end TCL 20R with a 90Hz display and a long-lasting battery.
The display is a 6.52-inch 720p LCD with a refresh rate of 90Hz. In addition, the touch sampling rate may reach 180Hz, and the peak brightness can reach 500 nits, indicating that the display is also suitable for gaming. The actual fingerprint sensor is located on the rear, right next to the vertical triple camera arrangement.
In comparison to the TCL 20Y, the 20R has a significantly higher Dimensity 700 as well as improved GPU and CPU speed. There is 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage as standard, but a 128GB version is expected. The storage may be expanded using a microSD card.
TCL 20R runs Android 11 out of the box but will be upgradeable to Android 12 whenever it becomes available on TCL devices worldwide. TCL also guarantees three years of security upgrades.
The main camera system comprises a 13MP primary sensor, a 2MP depth camera, and a 2MP macro shooter immediately above an LED flash. This camera can capture 1080p movies at 30 frames per second. The front camera, which is placed in the waterdrop notch, has an 8MP lens.
The 4,500 mAh battery should be more than adequate to get the phone through two days of usage. Unfortunately, it does not allow fast charging, but it does include a USB C connector.
