According to published statistics, Xiaomi's sales increased 26 percent in June, giving them a 17.1 percent lead over competitors Apple (14.3 percent) and Samsung (15.7 percent ). Having said that, the Chinese phone manufacturer has shipped over 800 million phones throughout the world since 2011.

In addition to the foregoing, a few random figures from Counterpoint show that Xiaomi was the top phone brand in Europe between April and June, with over 25% of the market share.

Counterpoint Research's Research Director, Tarun Pathak, stated, “Ever since the decline of Huawei commenced, Xiaomi has been making consistent and aggressive efforts to fill the gap created by this decline. The OEM has been expanding in Huawei’s and HONOR’s legacy markets like China, Europe, Middle East and Africa. In June, Xiaomi was further helped by China, Europe and India’s recovery and Samsung’s decline due to supply constraints.”

While Xiaomi intends to expand its products to the high-end market, the company still has a long way to go to catch up to Apple and Samsung which have dominated the flagship market for almost a decade.
