It was simply a rumour yesterday, but today it is confirmed. After Q3 2021, Xiaomi will no longer use the "Mi" brand name for any of its Mi product lines. All Xiaomi devices, including the Xiaomi Mix 4 and Xiaomi Pad 5, will henceforth be referred to as "Xiaomi."

The rumours started when Xiaomi released the Mix 4 and Pad 5 two weeks ago without the Mi brand name. These rumours were corroborated by tipster Ishan Agarwal recently. However, a Xiaomi official has since stated that the Mi brand is no longer in use.

This modification is explained in depth in Xiaomi's complete press release:

This change will unify our global

and presence and close the perception gap between the

and and its products. This change may take some time to take effect in all regions. With introducing the new

and identity, two distinct product series will sit beneath the parent

and. Xiaomi products represent the pinnacle of technology and offer a premium experience while Redmi products

ing big innovation at a more accessible price point and are aimed at a younger audience. This differentiation is also reflected in our updated logos, with both the Xiaomi and Redmi logotypes under the parent

and logo. The product series naming convention — Xiaomi and Redmi — will also be applied to our ecosystem and IoT products over time.

Andrzej Gladki, Xiaomi's General Manager for the Nordic area, recently stated that physical Mi Stores would henceforth be branded "Xiaomi Stores," and we anticipate this change reflected on Xiaomi's official "Mi Store" websites.

This name change is scheduled to become official on September 15, when the Xiaomi 11T phones will be released sans the Mi brand name.
