WhatsApp is developing a variety of new features for the messaging app. For example, end-to-end encryption for cloud backups will soon provide further protection for our WhatsApp conversation backups.
Recently, the well-known WABetaInfo discovered another planned WhatsApp feature in a new beta version.
According to their claim, WhatsApp will soon allow you to convert audio messages to text. The texts will be transcribed using AI voice recognition, and the transformation will take place only on the smartphone level, However, no data will be transmitted to or stored by WhatsApp.
Once a message is transcribed for the first time, it is saved in the local WhatsApp database and does not need to be converted again.

Of course, if you want to utilise this function, you must provide WhatsApp access to your phone's AI engine, which is responsible for speech recognition. This may be a source of worry for those who advocate for the complete protection of personal data.
Because the conversion data will be transmitted to OEMs to process requests, this will also assist your phone company to improve its voice recognition technology.
This feature is currently under development. Therefore there is no set timetable for its release.
