Google had delayed the release of Android 12 compared to last year's plan when Android 11 was launched in the first week of September. Android 12 has been formally released to the Android Open Source Project during the first week of October (AOSP). The upgrade, however, has only made it to AOSP and will only be available for Google Pixel phones "in the coming weeks." As a result, it is not currently available for cellphones, and most users will have to wait a few weeks.
Google has said that devices from Samsung, Oppo, Xiaomi, OnePlus, and Vivo, among others, would get Android 12 "later this year." This is unsurprising given that third-party OEMs usually take many weeks or months to acquire and test new Android upgrades before they are pushed to devices. Given the limited number of Pixel phones in circulation across the globe, this implies that the bulk of Android users will get Android 12 before the end of the year.
Android 12 has a totally redesigned user interface with more dynamic and customised animations, additional customisation, and a slew of new privacy features. In addition, the settings page has been changed, as have the fast settings shade and the wallpapers and colour accents.
The video below provides an overview of what to anticipate from Android 12.
