HMD Global, a Finnish phone manufacturer, has planned a launch event for October 6th. The Nokia G50 is the company's latest smartphone, which was revealed today. Historically, it is the first Nokia G-series phone to enable 5G.

Display and Design Overview

The display is somewhat larger than previously and has a more robust set of capabilities.

It has a 6.82" LCD screen with 720p+ resolution and 70% NTSC coverage. It has a strong screen with 450 nits of peak brightness and a V-notch cutout for an 8MP selfie camera.

The primary camera has the same cookie-cutter housing hump. The fingerprint sensor is located on the side of the device and also serves as the power button.

Storage and Internals Overview

The Nokia G50 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 processor, which supports 5G and provides slightly improved performance and battery life.

This is paired with 4/6 GB of RAM and 64/128 GB of storage, which can be expanded to 512GB through a microSD card.

In terms of performance, the Snapdragon 480 SoC features two large cores based on the Cortex A76, which improves gaming (as advertised).

Expect two years of OS upgrades and three years of monthly security fixes. The Nokia G50 runs Android 11 right out of the box.

There is also a dedicated Google Assistant key, a 3.5mm headphone port, Bluetooth 5.0, and an FM radio on the phone.

If you're interested, it will also include a free 30-day trial of ExpressVPN.

Cameras Overview

The camera setup is similar to that of other phones in the same mid-range price bracket.

The primary sensor is a 48MP device, and it is joined by a 5MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP depth sensor.

Unfortunately, there is no macro sensor, and there is no focusing on the ultrawide shooter.

The punch-hole selfie camera has an 8MP resolution.

Pricing and Battery Overview

The battery capacity has been increased to 5,000 mAh, and charging has been enhanced to 18W. This should be enough to charge the smartphone for about 90 minutes.
