Six years after the introduction of Windows 10, Microsoft has recently launched Windows 11. However, like with every new release, bugs or performance problems often must be addressed.

As a result, Windows 11 suffers from performance problems with AMD Ryzen CPUs. Microsoft has said that AMD processors may see a 15% performance decrease while running Windows 11. Two problems are affecting AMD-powered computers that are running the new OS. The first is that Windows 11 on these PCs may quadruple L3 cache latency. This may result in a 3 to 5% performance reduction in certain video games, but it can result in a 15% performance drop in some competitive games used in eSports.

The second problem is AMD's "preferred core" technology, which is in charge of moving threads to the fastest core on a CPU. AMD has cautioned that customers with more than 8 cores on their CPUs may experience more apparent performance problems.

The good news is that AMD and Microsoft are already hard at work on a solution. According to the businesses, they are "currently examining these known problems for resolution through software upgrades."

Windows 11 will get two updates later this month, one of which will be a software upgrade and the other an OS update. We're hopeful that one of these upgrades will include a remedy. Furthermore, we suggest that customers stay with Windows 10 until the majority of the problems with Windows 11 have been resolved.
