Vivo and Oppo want to release self-developed Image Signal Processor (ISP) shortly, comparable to Xiaomi's Surge C1. In layman's terms, the two firms will create their camera processors for smartphones. Vivo's in-house ISP chip may be named "Yueying," and it could be released as soon as next month.
According to the Chinese tech site IT Home, the Vivo X70 may be the first smartphone that will utilize the new in-house processor.
Vivo seems to be committed to developing its chip since it plans to hire 500-600 people in this department. Vivo VP Hu Baishan disclosed this, as well as the fact that the business has been working on this project since 2019.
Vivo is also seeking to recruit many additional workers for Yueying Research and Development and intends to compensate them well.
We've heard that Vivo is developing its own SoC to compete with MediaTek and Qualcomm. Central processing units, modems, computer chips, printed circuit boards, and computer storage are among the product categories covered by Vivo's SoC's trademark. However, there is no more information about Vivo's mysterious SoC at this time.
Vivo also intends to spend heavily in the research and development of 5G, AI, and other future technologies. Oppo, its sibling business, is also working on comparable technology, and its chip development team allegedly numbers over 1000 people.
