Babar Azam, Pakistan's outstanding batter, became the first Pakistani skipper to lead his team to a World Cup triumph against archrival India. Babar's outstanding leadership and batting propelled Pakistan to a decisive ten-wicket win against India, their greatest in terms of wickets left in T20I cricket.
Azeem Siddique, the Pakistani captain's father, was also at the stadium to witness the triumph and burst into tears as his son struck the winning runs against their archrivals. Various social media networks shared a video of Babar's father during the victorious moments. Check out the Video below:
Since then, the Video has gone viral, with over 26,000 likes and 5,000 retweets.
Mazher Arshad, a well-known cricket statistician, shared the Video on Twitter and detailed a chat he had with Babar's father a few years before Babar made his debut for Pakistan. "I distinctly recall what his father told me 'bas debut ho jane do," Mazher tweeted. 'Agay sara maidaan babar ka hai' (simply let him make his debut, and the whole world would be in Babar's hands)".
Pakistan's emphatic win over their archrivals has placed them in pole position to reach the T20 World Cup semi-finals in 2021. The Men in Green will be looking to replicate their performance against the Kiwis on Tuesday before playing Afghanistan a few days later.
